Florence Flamingo 2026 Edition by Elizabeth Hartman is a playful patchwork quilt pattern featuring a colourful flock of long-legged flamingos made using conventional piecing techniques.

This updated edition of Elizabeth Hartman’s original 2016 pattern includes larger pages and new fabric options while keeping the same charming flamingo design. Choose from a 45" square small quilt featuring two flamingos or a larger 59" x 79" quilt with a full flock of nine. The pattern is Jelly Roll and 2½" strip friendly, with no templates or paper piecing required. Because the design uses smaller pieces, it is recommended for quilters comfortable with rotary cutting and patchwork piecing.

Blocks: 2 Flamingo Blocks (Small) or 9 Flamingo Blocks (Large)

Fabric Requirements:

Small Quilt – 45" x 45"

• 12 assorted 2½" x WOF strips for flamingos
• ⅛ yard dark solid detail fabric
• ⅛ yard light solid detail fabric
• 2¼ yards background fabric
• 3 yards backing
• ½ yard binding
• 49" x 49" batting

The 12 flamingo strips can come from a Jelly Roll, scraps, or ⅛-yard cuts.

Large Quilt – 59" x 79"

For the flamingos, choose one of the following:

• 1 Jelly Roll or similar pack of precut 2½" strips + ⅛ yard each of 9 coordinating solid fabrics
• 2 Jelly Rolls, totaling at least 54 strips
• ¼ yard each of 18 different fabrics

Plus:

• ⅛ yard dark solid detail fabric
• ⅛ yard light solid detail fabric
• 4¼ yards background fabric
• 5 yards backing
• ¾ yard binding
• 63" x 83" batting
