Busy Backyard by Elizabeth Hartman is a cheerful patchwork quilt pattern filled with colourful garden friends and foliage, including tulips, roses, daisies, bees, ladybugs, butterflies, caterpillars, snails, and frogs.

Choose from a 46" x 46" small quilt featuring two of each block or a 68" x 86" large quilt with six of each design. The pattern is Fat Quarter friendly and uses conventional patchwork techniques with no templates or paper piecing required. With nine different block designs and lots of colour possibilities, it’s a fun way to mix coordinating prints and solids from your stash or a favourite Fat Quarter bundle.

Large Quilt – 68" x 86"

• 36 Fat Quarters for colourful block fabrics
• ⅛ yard eye fabric
• 5 yards background fabric
• 5¼ yards backing
• ¾ yard binding
• 72" x 90" batting

For the small quilt, the 12 Fat Quarters are divided into two colour groups, with each group making one of each of the nine block designs. The large quilt uses 36 Fat Quarters divided into six colour groups. For best results, each group can include a range of light-to-dark values for plenty of contrast.
